Plate with decal picture of labelled Volum Brewing Co crown seal beer and engraved Volum Brewing Co. at lower front. Johnson of Australia pottery. (Geelong) 255 mm diameter. 1950s
N/A. (N/A). I assume some sort of fantasy piece? As far as I know Johnson of Australia began in 1957 but the Volum Brewing Co had been absorbed by the Ballarat Brewing Co in 1953. Anyway the picture of the bottle is some sort of decal or similar stuck on to the middle of the plate while the Volum Brewing Co script underneath the bottle is engraved and then highlighted in gold. Plate has crazing and light wear. Bottle print has some bubbling and marks and as you can see is not well defined. Interesting piece, perhaps someone out there knows the history of this? Estimate: $50-100
