James Barlow, Birmingham brass cow bell.. Metalware. Cow Bell. Brass cow bell with brass handle and replaced donger. About 115 mm high without handle. Width is about 130 mm (5 inch).. 19th century
Very Good. (N/A). The brass handle and body look to have been painted silver at some stage, much of this has worn off. The donger is just a nut on a piece of wire, so not original. Inner silver paint is mostly intact. Some scratches and minor marks. Really solid example. Very odd that it has James Barlow clearly on it, James Barwell was a well known cow bell manufacturer, I haven't noted James Barlow before on any that I have handled. Maybe a cheeky competitor? Estimate: $200-250
