The / Champion. No base mark. (Melbourne, Victoria). Household. Jar. Fruit Jar. Aqua. 1 Quart. 190 mm. 1890s
Very Good. (7.5). A very rare jar. Wallach's House Furnishers from Elizabeth Street, Melbourne were advertising in the 1890s these Champion Fruit Jars, possessing advantages over all other jars with improved bridle and yoke fastener on neck, wider mouth, 3 inch diameter, rubber rings on cover and all covers one size! They then say they have them in three sizes, pint, quarts and half gallons! Are these known in three sizes? This size is very rare. No lid with this example. Small front inner lip flake. Couple of outer rear lip flakes of up to around 5 mm. Some other minor lip nicks and marks. A little fine usage wear under the heel. Super embossing. Some fine scratches and minor marks to be found. Great example of this rare, Melbourne jar. Estimate: $250-350
