The Canton / Domestic (in a heavy border) / Fruit Jar. No base mark. Original lid has Patd Dec 31 1889.. Household. Fruit Jar. Bail type with fancy lid. Ground lip. Clear (very faint hint of amethyst). Half Gallon. 275 mm with lid. 1900s
Excellent. (8.1). But has chips and marks all around the ground lip. 12 x 4 mm chip on the outer edge of the sealing rim at the right. Some haze in the bottom. Fine scratches and scuffs around. A small open bubble at the front shoulder a larger shallow one to the mid back. Brilliant embossing. Lid is a beauty too. Very fine light glass, beautifully made. First large size one we have actually had through. Estimate: $30-60
