H. H. A. Flanagan / Wellington. Base Mark: S. (New South Wales). Aerated Water. Codd. Applied top, spun finish. Four way pour Dobson style patent with four tear drops. Aqua. 10 oz. 225 mm. 1910s
Very Good. (7.1). 4 x 4 mm and 5 x 4 mm nibbled shallow flakes to front upper lip. Upper left lip has a fine 4 x 3 mm bruise from an impact nick. Couple of other little nicks and nibbles spots around the lip. Around the lower lip there are some nibbled impacts and tiny flakes as well. Couple of surface impact flakes around one of the rear dimples. Little shallow nibbled flake to upper front. Couple of making fold type marks under the heel. There is a tiny nick or two to the heel as well, but the bigger marks are definitely in manufacture. Nibbled crate wear across pretty much all of the embossing. Some wear to upper front as well. Light scuffs and scratches scattered around. A bit dull internally, there is some residue inside which has caused a brown drip like appearance in places, this should soak out. There may still be a little inner haze afterwards? Scuffed scratch to lower front left, not overly deep though. A really hard bottle to get from country New South Wales. Herbert Henry Alfred Flanagan operated the factory in Wellington since he opened it in 1914 until early 1937 when he sold the factory to C Matthews and moved to Bathurst. Estimate: $400-500
