Victoria Parade / Brewery / E. M. / T. Aitken. No potters stamp. (East Melbourne, Victoria). Beer. Stoneware. Champagne shape. Double collar top. Salt Glaze. Impressed. 26 oz. 258 mm. 1870s
Very Good. (7). Big chipped area along the front base edge of nearly 50 x 12 mm. About an 8 x 4 mm chip on its own next to the large area. Chip at the back base edge of 9 x 6 mm with a glazed indent below it. Stained. Very crude with a crease in the back and a lump on the neck where I thought it may be repaired but no, this is all original. A mark on the lip of 9 x 3 mm leads to a thin line but again looks to be from manufacture. Some scuffs and wear around. Stamp is mostly very good but the initial T before Aitken can't be read. A solid example of this unusual and early Melbourne beer bottle. Estimate: $1000-2000
