15. Flinders Lane East / H. W. Steward / Melbourne / 3. (Victoria). Pottery. Jar. Double handled storage crock. Ridge inside top for a lid. Tan top. Impressed. 3 Quart. 210 mm. 1880s - 1890s
Very Good. (7.1). But has quite a few tight hairlines around. About 135 mm across the front in the tan part and through the stamp. 100 x 50 mm crossed over lines to the lower front left. 60 mm down the front, continues across the base and then 35 mm up the back (this one can be seen more boldly on the inside). Another one branches from the last one across the base and about 40 mm up one side. 22 x 10 mm base chip to the left base edge that shows an iron spot in the clay in the middle of it. Impact and 30 mm curved fracture over the right front lip. Bit of stain and minor wear. Overall it is actually a pretty nice piece and an unusual Steward piece, there is quite a range to collect from this merchant. Estimate: $30-60
