Violin pickle. No Base Mark: (United Kingdom). Goldfields. Pickle. Applied top. Violin shape. Aqua. Small. 144 mm. 144 mm. 1840s-1850s
Very Good. (7.5). Stained, some fine etching internally. Scratched wear down one side, this looks shiny though making me think maybe this has been acid dipped to shine it up? (UPDATE 18/8/23: Definitely has not been acid dipped). Some little nicks to the protruding ridges and points down the sides. Some scuffs and scratches. Nick or two to base edge. A really good example of this rare size, we have never sold one in this really small size! We have sold several of what I thought were the small size, but they are all around the 180-190 mm mark in height. This is somewhat smaller. Great item!
Estimate: $500-750.
