Commonwealth of Australia / One / Half / Penny / 1923 // Georgivs V D. G. Britt Omn: Rex F. D. Ind: Imp: / (King George V). (Australia). Numismatics. . Copper half penny. 25 mm across. 1923
N/A. (N/A). NOTE: We are not coin graders, so will describe the condition, but this is not an official coin grading! This is in well circulated condition with plenty of wear and tear. Seems to have a slight bend or dint in it. The dated side has a dint to the rim near one of the M's of Commonwealth. Some other knocks around the rim to the face. Pitted little dints below the word Penny. Some other pitted marks. A bit of wear, but the writing is quite clear, including the all important date of 1923. A bit of verdigris as well. The other side with the king's head also has some knocks around the edges, some verdigris and pitting. Some wear as this side is slightly bulged out. The IVS of Georgivs has green verdigris over it which obliterates the writing. Highly sought after, the 1923 half penny had a very low mintage of only 15,000 coins. The full penny has the 1930 as the one every one wants, this 1923 half penny is the equivalent for this smaller denomination! Very sought after in any condition, who can say they have the full set of Australian half pennies? Now, you have the chance to be in that rare category! Needless to say, if you are serious, you may want a personal viewing to grade this for yourself, please let us know if this is required and we are happy to oblige.. Estimate: $400-600
