Townsend's // Sarsaparilla // New York // - //. No base mark. Spirits Sarsaparilla Applied top with collar. Olive Green. 26 oz. 235 mm. 1870s
Very Good. Stained throughout. Lip mark is a fold from making. Inclusion to edge of sarsaparilla panel has a tiny associated star fracture, further down this corner near base is another tiny star fracture. Little nibbled flake to base edge on New York panel. Scuffs and scratches scattered around, a few of which are a little deeper than standard. A great deep olive green colour with a collared lip, very rare in this style. Note that this only says Townsend's without the Dr, and there is no Albany on it. I am only aware of these having been found in Australia - was this a cheeky Australian competitor cashing in on Dr Townsend's popularity in this country? Grade: 7.2 Estimate: $200 - 250
