Jane Glover's / Ointment. No base mark. Original plain lid. (Sale, Victoria) . Pot Lid. Pot. Small black & white ointment pot. Original plain lid. 44 mm. 1880s - 1890s
Good. (6.6). 27 mm discoloured hairline down from the left rim. 15 mm example to the right. Both of these are darker internally, and longer as well on the inside. 25 mm hairline to rear, this one cannot be seen on the inside at all. 14 x 2 mm flaked area along front left upper rim. About 30 mm long flaked area along upper rear rim, up to a 3 mm wide. Another 30 m section to front right upper rim s also flaked. So yes, flakes around much of the upper rim, but no large chips. Some little nicks and small glaze flake to outer lid seat. Tiny nick to right base edge. Under the heel is some hard crud that looks like glue and maybe a bit of board, looks like this has been glued to a board of some sort at some stage, and this is the remains of that. You can see most of the actual heel, this has no damage at all. Very rare jar from Gippsland, this is the first one I have seen with the original lid. This has just a few scratches and minor marks. Great item.. Estimate: $500-750
