Salt Glaze bottle with purpose built holes in the base.. Pottery. . Salt Glaze bottle with purpose built holes in the base. 170 mm. 19th century
Excellent. (8). Not sure what this is? It looks like a dump shaped bottle but the middle of the base has four holes drilled through and then around the outer edge of the base are 9 more holes with grooves purposefully cut in from these holes to the outer edge of the base. This would seem the be for draining purposes. 14 x 3 mm flake type mark to outer lip edge is a kiln kiss from making. Small flake to inner lip rim. Couple of little nicks to the outer lip edge. Small impact flake through the glaze to mid neck. Short deep scratch to opposite neck. Looks Australian made? Not sure on age, but would suggest later 19th century, maybe early 20th century?. Estimate: $30-50
