J. Sherwin. (Tasmania) Pottery Sherwin Early Australia pottery bung jar with rolled lip. Mustard coloured throughout. Quart. 163 mm. 1850s
Very Good. 6 x 3 mm chip under the edge of the stamp. 16 x 15 mm body chip at the back - looks like it has had an iron spot and blown out in the kiln. Under the base edge are chips of 18 x 9 and 25 x 4 mm. Next to this longer chip is a 10 x 6 mm chip up the back. 8 x 5 mm body chip at the side as well. Couple of nibbles and some wear on the lip. Bit of light wear generally. Nice stamp (with some chalk in it for highlighting). A lovely example of this early Tasmanian piece. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $600 - 800
