Thistle Whisky. JD to rear shoulder. Base Mark: James Dickson / (Dot) / Leith. (Scotland) Goldfields Whisky/Whiskey Applied top. Hugely embossed thistles and vines. Oval label space to rear. Aqua. 26 oz. 290 mm. 1850s-1860s
Very Good. 6 x 5 mm chip to the front left lip has been ground down and smoothed over. Rest of the top of the lip has just been left dull. Very fine and difficult to see 3 mm fracture in the back lip near a little manufacturing mark. Also a pinprick mark near this. Little bits of dullness and some fine scratches around. A bit of grime amongst the super heavy embossing. Some surfaced bubbles on the back. Some dirt in the neck under the applied lip. One of the great bottles of collecting and this is a lovely example. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $2000 - 3000
