A.M. Palmer & Co, Chemists. / Otto of Rose / Cold / Cream / Ballarat. (Victoria) Pot Lid Cold Cream Australian round Pot Lid. Black print on white. Medium-large size. (Lid No. 43, "Collecting Australian Pot Lids", by Robert Keil). 69 mm diameter. 1890s
Good. Small purple coloured spots of stain. A streak near Co and beside the R of Rose to the L of Cold and right to the D of Cold is a line of this same purplish stain. The underside here has a very fine hairline, this stain has entered the hairline and soaked through giving the streak at the front. If you could soak this out, there would be no evidence of any hairline afterwards. A couple of other short stained hairlines to the flange, again, these should soak out if you could find the right solution. One tiny flake to the lower flange. Some fine scratches. Purple stains are notoriously difficult to remove, however, if you could remove these, this would end up a really good example of this scarce lid. This does not come with a base. Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $200 - 250
