Goldfields pickle with neck design like a Champion's Vinegar. Base mark: (Dot). Goldfields Pickle Applied top. Neckring wiht tapered impressed design asper Champion's Vinegars to the neck. Cylindrical body. Aqua. 1 Pint. 195 mm. 1860s
Very Good. This has to be a Champion's? In the 1840s in Australia they were advertising their pickling vinegar, maybe they put that in this container, or they actually produced pickles as well? Whatever the case, I have not seen one of these before. This is stained throughout with an opalescent appearance. It has a crude lip with folds and splits, but all appear to be from making. 7 x 4 mm flake to base edge. A few pitted scratches, scattered other scratches and the odd scuff mark. A few fisheyes. Most unusual item. Grade: 7.2 Estimate: $200 - 250
