Blackett's Royal / for strengthening, beautifying and preserving the gums / (Coat of Arms) / Blackett / Chemist, Williamstown / Cherry Tooth Paste. (Victoria) Pot Lid Tooth Paste Domed lid, black print on blue. 79 mm diameter. 1890s
Very Good. This was found in Williamstown in 1994 with the original base and has not been touched since, this is in decent original condition. Crazing throughout, some of this is discoloured with a rusty appearance, other parts have a dark discolouration, such as a series around the left face edge. There are some hairlines to the flange that catch the nail. 10 x 5 mm flake to outer lower flange, another of 9 x 3 mm near the other side of the lower flange has a small nick next to it. One shallow 5 x 5 mm flange flake has pretty much popped out, looks like it is hanging into place with the assistance of some rust. Fair bit of rust stain underneath. Really solid example, would soak up to be a great display piece with the right treatment. The base is heavily crazed as well, it has a small chip to the upper surface. Grade: 7 Estimate: $1000 - 1250
