Porpoise / Embrocation. Smooth base. (New South Wales) Medicine Cure Round with long tapered neck. Applied top. Aqua 10 oz. 192 mm. 1890s
Very Good. Scratches and scuffs outside. Some haze inside. Very crude top with big swirl of bubbles through it. Porpoise Embrocation was made by Capper & Sons and advertised in New South Wales. A later advertisement (in the Melbourne Age) mentions a sale including Faulkners Porpoise Embrocation and leather dressing products - the same as Cappers products so possibly Faulkner took over the business. And of course Faulkner's preserving oil from Sydney is known in stoneware bottles which would seem to come from the same company. This is the only example we've seen of this bottle and like the Zoeller Embrocation in this auction is a clear rip off of the common Elliman's Embrocation shape. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $50 - 75
