G. H. Bennett, / Ginger / (Flag with G.H.B. Initials) / Beer / Richmond. Impressed stamp: The Bendigo Pottery / Epsom / Bendigo. (Victoria) Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Champagne. Green Top. Black Print. 10 oz. 218 mm. 1910s
Good. Sort of? Couple of little flakes to the lower part of the top, so much better than normal here. Really fine 300 mm glaze hairline to upper rear body. 15 x 6 mm flake to right base edge. Flaked chip over about 45 mm and up to 10 mm from the left base edge has been filled. Some discolouration down the right. Now for the sort of bit! The print looks good all over, but in fact is not. This has been lightly struck in the upper region, mainly to the left with the letters G. H. BE of G. H. Bennett and the GIN of Ginger actually having been added with something in recent times to make them look prominent. These do scratch off! In places, you can see the original black print underneath, but only just! This is NOT repaired in this section pottery wise, just enhanced print wise. One or two other letters have been enhanced as well. The glaze has a slight chalky appearance as these often do. Grade: 6 Estimate: $150 - 200
