Milk / The property / of / G. F. Vessey / Astley Dairy / 71 Queen St / Preston / One Imperial Quart / 3 // Please / Wash & Return / This bottle cannot / be legally used / or sold by others. Base mark: 197. (Victoria) Household Dairy Machine made, wad style thick lip. Clear. Fat shape quart. 247 mm. 1930s-1940s
Excellent. Shallowest of small flakes to inner wad seat on the left side which really is not noticeable at all. Some fine usage wear around the heel and base edge. Relatively fine scratches to be found and the odd scuff mark. Great crisp embossing, there are a few small nicks and spots of wear to some of the letters. A few small spots of grime. Now for the interesting part, Vessey had a couple of different pint milks which are quite hard to get I believe. They also have a quart of which there is one good example, and one damaged example known! THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! THIS IS DIFFERENT! The known quarts are the tall style and have a different set out of embossing with the quart sizing written above the badge for starters. This fat shorter style of quart from this company was previously unknown to collectors. Grade: 8.5 Estimate: $1000 - 1500
