Certified / Trade (Shield with CM in a Circle Within a Cross) Mark / Milk Company / Melbourne. Base Mark: M. (Victoria) Household Dairy Applied top. Aqua. 1 Quart. 303 mm. 1900s
Very Good. This would have had a swing stopper on it. Stained throughout, this has been oiled internally. Some rust below lip, this would be from the original wire. The lower lip has a couple of tiny flakes to the left, and another nick to the lower right lip. Scrape mark to upper right part of embossed shield, 5 x 2 mm bruise at end of this. Small bubble above embossing has a fine surface fracture around its lower part, which is common with bottles. Left part of cross and trade mark has some pitted marks on it. Some pitted scratches to be found, mostly to the rear. Some other scratches and scuffs scattered around. Couple of small flakes to the otherwise strong embossing. Couple of scraped marks to base edge. This is a rare bottle, we have only ever sold one before in Auction 27 - and that was this very item! The purchaser has managed to upgrade, hence this is now being re-offered to collectors. Grade: 7.3 Estimate: $750 - 1000
