Thistle Whisky. JD in circle to rear shoulder. Base Mark: James Dickson / (Dot) / Leith. (Scotland) Goldfields Whisky/Whiskey Applied top. Hugely embossed thistles and vines. Oval label space to rear. Aqua. 26 oz. 298 mm. 1850s
Very Good. 9 x 2 mm nibbled shallow flake to left lip edge, tiny flake next to this as well and a small inner lip nibbled mark as well in this same spot. The upper lip edge is sharp on inside and outside which is possibly indicative of it having been ground ever so slightly to minimise the little flakes. If so, this is definitely very minor, really not noticeable at all! Some very light inner haze in places. Inner rear shoulder has a few surface bubbles, a couple of which are discoloured. Shallow 3 x 4 mm mark next to label space near the base is like a body flake, not sure if this is from making or not? A few little nibbles to the base edge on the label space side. Some fine scuffs and scratches. Extremely heavy embossing, just a little minor high point wear in a few places, but amazingly good in general! One of the most sought after Australian found bottles, everyone wants one of these! This is the first one that we have ever had the privilege of offering for sale. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $2500 - 3000
