Cobalt Thumbnail Poison. No base mark. Poison Cobalt Concave one one side with panel of ribs, outer bulbous side has a diamond pattern and ribs at top and bottom. 90 mm. 1880s
Excellent. Shallow pitted scratch type mark to upper lip. Tiny flake to left lip edge, below this is a slightly larger but very shallow neck flake. Right neck also has very shallow sliver, barely noticeable at all. Tiny nick or two to the ribs. Light haze to be found. Some fine scratches. This has been listed as a poison in a UK poison reference book hence the listing here, however, there remains no strong evidence proving this. It could be a perfume, maybe even a spittoon - although the top is possibly a bit narrow for that purpose. A great piece nonetheless. Grade: 8 Estimate: $150 - 200
