Very Good. Filter has small chips around the rim, mostly at the front. Also coming down from the rim are about 6 fine hairlines with the longest about 90 mm. Kiln kiss like a thin sliver chip on the edge of the left handle. A bit of stain inside and on the base. A few small glaze marks. Lid is badly damaged but is the original apparently. Grading for filter body only. Rare one, not listed in the Bendigo Pottery book. M. Hughes, late McDonald & Hughes, was advertising as a monumental sculptor & marble importer in the 1880s, included in his advertising is the fact he was selling dripstone filters. Grade: 7.9 Estimate: $300 - 400
