Headley's Wagga / Trade (Stippled Face Cat with Pointed Ears) Mark / Regd / Aerated Spring Waters. Base Mark: K. B. Ltd. / L / 12392. (New South Wales) Aerated Water Codd Applied top. Four way pour Dobson style patent with four dimples. Aqua. 13 oz. 225 mm. 1900s
Very Good. May have had a light inner oiling at some stage, can't see any evidence but it has a slight aroma to it (could be from being packed in a box with oiled bottles?). Some fisheyes and little impact marks. A bit of surface haze in places. Some scuffs and scratches to be found. Nice embossing, some minor high point marks to some of it. We have sold several Headley's codds in the past, this version we have never handled though! This is the first Kilner Bros made example that we have offered. It has 2 large four pointed crosses between the lines of writing as opposed to the usual 4 or 5 pointed stars, the cat's head is different with no beard, a stippled face and pointed ears. A nice example of this rarer version. There are numerous cats' heads designs which vary enormously from one mould to another. The Headley factory operated from 1903 to 1914. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $200 - 250
