(Crown) / Adams' Hotel / Sydney // King George VI / 1937 / (Pair of Crowns) / May 12th / Queen Elizabeth // G vi R. No base mark. (New South Wales) Hotelware Glass Lime Green Pub Glass with handle. 101 mm. 1937
Mint. Just a little grime that should clean off, and a few scratches to be found. A great Royal commemorative item in its own right, but being etched with Adam's Hotel, Sydney increases the interest tenfold! The colour is unique for a pub glass. The pub is also of utmost interest, as the Tattersall's Hotel became Adams' Hotel in Sydney in 1878. In 1969 the pub was sold and the site between Pitt and George Street developed into a 40 story building, however the famous Marble Bar in the hotel had been declared by the national Trust and so had to be utilised within the 40 story building. Is it still there? So, this rare glass is linked to the famous Adams' family who founded Tattslotto. Grade: 9.6 Estimate: $100 - 150
