Sold for A$200
Six "Roman" or "Persian" glassware items. All with pontil scarred bases. Early Glass Roman Various 100 - 217 mm. Late 1800s-1900s
All are worn and look very old. The short squat wide mouth vase has been in pieces and glued back together. The larger pale blue / milky one has a couple of chipped pieces glued back in. All have some stain and the like and are obviously very crude. A number of these sort of things have been dug in tips in Australia usually dating to just after the First World War. It is only conjecture but it seems that many of these were brought back from Egypt/Palestine as souvenirs by soldiers after the war. Possibly sold as genuine antiquities or maybe they knew these were copies at the time? Either way they are antiques now and this is a really nice assortment of them. Grade: N/A Estimate: $150 - 200
