Amazing Chinese Water Whistle. Chinese Jade coloured Chinese water whistle shaped like a tea pot. 65 mm. 1860s
This has a Chinese look and feel to it,hence we have listed it as Chinese. The idea is to put water in there, then blow on the spout and it whistles. Very Good condition, there is a small flake to the rim and a little nick next to this. As can be imagined, forming the spout so that it goes far enough in to be submerged would have been difficult back in the 1800s. There is a crack and flakes around where this goes through the body, the top part of this has glaze in it. Some of it has rust in it. Nibbled flake at base edge below the spout. Some fine crazing.
