Pair of Maughams: 1. James Monro // Port Adelaide. No base mark. 2. Monro & Co // Gladstone. No makers mark. (South Australia) Aerated Water Maugham Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 284 & 283 mm. 1880s-1890s
1. Good. Long dirty surface bubble to body. Some half moon flake type impact marks to lower body. Possibly has been polished, but etching remains throughout with extensive scratches. Some pitted marks. (6.0). 2. Fair. 10 x 4 mm bruise to inner lip. Inclusion near D of Gladstone has a small butterfly bruise from it. Lower body across one seam has a bulged out area that has some heavy surface wear across it. These first three items have been highlighted by the vendor with red texta. Stained throughout, this is quite heavily etched as well. Crude making folds to outer lip. Pitted marks. Scuffs and scratches throughout. This is the first one we have sold. (5.7).
