8 / R. Fowler / Sydney. (New South Wales) Pottery Fowler Two tone, tan top, off white body. 8 Pounds. 180 mm. 1920s
Very Good. A most unusual piece with a deep moat around the inner lip. This would have been filled with a liquid to assist in preventing pests from easily accessing the contents - much like a moat around a castle! The inner lip has some small flakes and scratches. The inner trough between the lips has some flaking to the glaze. The outer rim has some glaze flakes and nicks. Plenty of grime scattered around. Some discoloured spots. A few scratches and minor marks. The lid has a few flakes and chips with a bit of grime as well. Some glaze scratches here too. A very interesting piece of Australian pottery. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $40 - 60
