Cherry Tooth Paste. / For beautifying and preserving the teeth & gums / (Queen Victoria) / Prepared by John Gosnell & Co London / Patronized by The Queen. Pot Lid Tooth Paste Light green, khaki type colours, olive, a bit of yellow maybe, and blackprint. Gold border. 79 mm across. 1870s
Very Good. A scarce variation, this has small print John Gosnell, and the shading around Queen Victoria continues behind her head, which you rarely see. I think this is the earlier variation. Couple of spots of rust, the gold border is fully intact. Some fine scratches. Left underside of rim has a 10 x 4 mm chip, this can just be seen from the face. Two shallow flakes to the bottom of the flange. Tiny nick to outer flange edge. Some spots of discolouration. Comes with a base which is chipped and stained. Grading for lid only. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $40 - 60
