Sold for A$40

Pair of Money Boxes: 1. Early slip cast dog's head money box. 2. Jolly Man Money Box. To rear: Money / Taken In / Here. Miscellaneous Money Box 1. Brown glaze, slip cast. 2. Rockingham style glaze. 80 & 105 mm. 1880s-1920s

1. Good. Flakes and wear around the coin slot. Crack from coin slot comes down to the left eye of the dog. Some blow outs to the eye brows are glazed so from making, actually, several other small examples can be found also from making. Flake to rear base edge. Crack from bottom of coin slot at rear goes down and across near the base edge below the right ear. This is a little nibbled in places. Nice looking money box. (6.0). 2. Fair. Not sure on age, but looks early. This has been used, which is not good for us collectors. The money has been "extracted". A piece has been knocked out of the rear base which has subsequently been glued back in, but there is a small chip remaining and a little hole underneath. A couple of associated cracks as well. At least they had the foresight to do this at the rear, so looks good from the front! (5.0). Grade: N/A Estimate: $40 - 60
