Two toilet cologne bottles found in Tasmania with pontils, late 1830s. (Tasmania) (James A. Lerk Collection) Household Perfume Both are Free blown. Light Green. Pontil. 3 oz. 239 mm and 249 mm. 1830s
Both are excellent. These were found in Tasmania and sourced by James A. Lerk many years ago, who is now parting with them. The taller one has some stain internally. Scratch to shoulder area. Pontil is chipped, but that would be the way it was made. The smaller one has some inner haze. Flake or two around pontil from making. Barely even a scratch on this one. One of these is the actual example pictured by James in his book, "Bottles in Australian Collections," on page 8, bottle number 1. Grade: N/A Estimate: $50 - 75
