Richmond N. S. Brewing Co. F1455 to the top. (Victoria) Beer Barrel Large banded wooden keg or barrel with brass bungs. 10 Gallon. 535 mm. 1930s
Good. A large and heavy piece, this cannot be sent by Australia Post. This has been used to store vinegar until recently, so still has a little odour. The wood has deteriorated externally, but is obviously thick and still seals well. The metal bands are rusty. Green paint to the top. Brass bung in top is small and unmarked. The main marked bung has the usual knocks, some of the writing is a bit light on and it is a bit green as well. Basically usage type marks scattered around. NS stands for Nathan System which was a state of the art brewing system used in the late 1920s to early 1930s. Many of the big breweries adopted this system, and utilised the name in one way or another such as NS in this instance. Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $150 - 200
