John Hempsted & Co // Adams & Barretts / Jersey / Patent / Queensland. Around base heel: Lumb & Co Makers // Castleford. No base mark. Aerated Water Patent Applied top. Dark Red Amber. 13 oz. 231 mm. 1880s
Good. Polished. Shiny throughout, but the embossing is rounded and flat in places, the Adams and Barrett badge is very hard to make out. A little stain in the shoulder internally. One small flat spot to lip where a small flake may have been polished over. Small impact surface bruise to mid body. Little half moon mark over edge of bubble near base edge. Mark to lower body initially looks like a crack, but is not. This is a surface split that does not go through the glass, pretty much like a really thin scratch. There are a couple more to the upper body. Remains of impact marks scattered around, these are quite small after the polish job. The main embossing is not too bad, a tad rounded and has some high point marks. Extremely rare in this colour, is there another? This is the same example sold a few years ago in Lancaster auctions. Grade: 6 Estimate: $3000 - 3500
