Unusual ball which is a Gledhill Patent stopper. Also a codd opener. (James A. Lerk Collection) Aerated Water Miscellaneous Gledhill stopper and codd opener. Ball is 27 mm diameter. Codd opener is 39 mm diameter.. 1880s-1910s
Ball is in original condition. Not sure what it is made from. Vendor told us this was a Gledhill Patent stopper, I have seen similar items inside Gledhill Patents so agree with that statement. The codd opener is good. There is a split or two. Some bubbled marks around it, looks like it has been very hot and some varnish has bubbled, yet it does not look burnt in any way. Quite odd really.
