Bear Boot Polish Tin from A. & R. Ingwersen, Melbourne, Koala Trade Mark. (Victoria) (James A. Lerk Collection) Tins Bear Boot Polish Tin from A. & R. Ingwersen, Melbourne, Koala Trade Mark. 1 1/2 oz. 72 mm diameter. 1920s
Very Good. Not a tin I have seen before, the fact it has a koala and is from Ingwersen of Melbourne make this a very interesting piece indeed - I am no expert on tins though, so I cannot say whether it is a rare tin amongst collectors or not. This still has contents! Lid is stuck in place, so nobody will be polishing their boots with these contents too soon. Face is really good, it does have some scratches and a few tiny nicks and spots of corrosion. Some stain spots to the outer lid that could be the polish itself, and a bit of corrosion here too. The base is more corroded to the surface on the sides, but still quite good. Odd effect underneath, I have just scratched this and found it to be wax! It comes off easily. Quite shiny underneath otherwise. A great tin all round, this is from the James A. Lerk collection. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $50 - 75
