Very Good. From the Gilchrist Jar Co. although the examples given in the fruit jar book don't have exactly the same style of monogram (very similar though). Interestingly they say these were offered for sale in Australia from the late 1890s to at least 1907. The lid has Gilchrist Fruit And something on it, the milk glass insert has a large bulbous insert and is embossed Pat. April 2nd 1895 / Pat. May 28th 1895. Some flakes and chips around the upper lip which are common with this type of item. A few scuffs which are a bit deeper than standard, these are reasonably small. Scattered scratches throughout. Usage wear under base. A nice American jar. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $50 - 75
