Sandon Butter Stamp. (Victoria) (James A. Lerk Collection) Household Dairy Wooden butter stamp with surrounding cover. Stamp is 100 mm across. 1900s
Excellent. In the early 1900s the Newstead Butter Factory was set up, with Newstead and Sandon being in very close proximity in this region of country Victoria, I presume this is related to that factory or a rival factory that was set up in the same area? Some minor knocks and marks to the stamp. The surround has a bit of discolouration. One of the screws has pushed a bit of wood out. The screws are all very rusty, but this piece is still secure. A great dairying item. This is from the James A. Lerk collection. Grade: 8 Estimate: $50 - 75
