J. Kahland / Wine Merchant / King Street / Bendigo. No potters stamp. (Victoria) Demijohn Impressed Two tone, tan top, off white body. Impressed. 1 Gallon. 310 mm. 1900s
Good. Tiny glaze nick to front lip. Tiny glaze nick to rear handle. A few under base edge flakes and chips which may well be pottery pulls from making. A few little glaze nicks and some scratches to be found. I think this should grade a lot higher in reality, as the main issue is heavy discolouration. This, however, it quite odd, it is BLUE! There is some under the base as well. The upper lip has very thick clear glaze to it that appears to have a greeny blue stain at the bottom of this thick layer! I feel this is quite possibly all from making, whereby this would grade in the excellent region! A very odd stain indeed, a nice demijohn. Grade: 6.8 Estimate: $150 - 200
