Large Cream Coloured Barrel with Small Lid. No potters mark. (James A. Lerk Collection) Demijohn Barrel Large Cream Coloured Barrel with Small Lid. No potters mark. 6 Gallon. 460 mm without lid. 1920s
Very Good. Looks like it is from one of the Brunswick potteries. Near the top of the barrel is a 10 mm hole that looks like it has been drilled later, another similar hole of 7 mm to the opposite side of the barrel. Some flaking around this. Some flaked chips to the front left base edge around to the left base edge. Rust stain in places. A bit of heavy grime and dirt which will wash off. Some lumps from making which have some high point wear. Some scratches. Has the correct lid which is dirty with some scratches and a few small flakes to the underside rim. A fantastic piece of pottery, being so massive, this cannot be posted through Australia Post. Pick up will be required. From the James A. Lerk collection. Grade: 7 Estimate: $100 - 150
