Chinese Bowl. (James A. Lerk Collection) Chinese Chinese Bowl with chocolate glaze. About 125 mm diameter. 1860s
Excellent. Sourced by James A. Lerk from the Bendigo goldfields, this is an early and unusual piece. We have not seen this form of Chinese pottery before. Wear to upper lip is likely the way it was made. The outer rim has some nibbled flakes over about 25 mm with a couple of other making marks also around this rim. Bottom half is unglazed externally. A fantastically unusual piece of Chinese. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $50 - 75
