G. M. Hopkins / St. Ives. (United Kingdom) (James A. Lerk Collection) Aerated Water Torpedo Salt glaze. Impressed. 13 oz. 208 mm. 1830s
Excellent. Some scratches to front lip are a little discoloured. Splits from making to the right of this, one looks to have a little glaze flake next to it. One or two other tiny glaze nicks to lip. Glaze miss near base point. Another closer to the point has a small flake amongst it. Some fine wear to the point itself. Little glaze flake to front above base point. A few little glaze flakes and spots of wear, some of which are making marks. Plenty of other making marks add a huge amount of character to this stunning piece of very early pottery. Reasonably well impressed, I am very highly impressed! This is from the James A. Lerk collection. Grade: 8.3 Estimate: $1500 - 2000
