This flagon is the property of / B. Seppelt & Sons Ltd. Base Mark: F.B.C. (South Australia) Wine Cork Stoppered Applied top, spun finish. Banded barrel shaped bottle. Aqua. 1/2 Gallon. 296 mm. 1910s
Very Good. Has a cork in place with BS on the aluminium painted cap, this is a Seppelt stopper, I am reasonably sure that it is for this flagon as it sure looks the part. Unusual lip making marks. A little grime, not much. Some scratches to be found here and there. Across the S of Seppelt is a grind mark. The base mark is not one I am familiar with, according to prominent SA collectors, this may stand for Federal Bottle Company. There are a few different bottles known with the FBC base mark from this era, mostly from Seppelts. It is possible FBC were in Gawler. One of a range of Seppelt's barrel variations in this auction. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $100 - 150
