Coronation Souvenir Pocket Atlas Published by John Gosnell & Co., Ltd., London and Paris. Pot Lid Advertising Coronation Souvenir Pocket Atlas Published by John Gosnell & Co., Ltd., London and Paris. 165 x 105 mm. 1910s
Good. Quite stained and discoloured throughout. Cover is worn, binding is poor and there are some tears along the binding. It is, however, able to be flicked through quite easily to reveal a stunning array of adverts picturing the containers for many of their products of the day and a description of what the products were used for. For instance, the famous Queen's Head pot lid is on the inner rear page along with a tube for the same, the description is as follows: The original cherry tooth paste, Gosnell's. Imitated again and again - but never equalled - Gosnell's Cherry Tooth Paste is the only existing dentifrice with a century's world-wide reputation - gained by sheer merit. Whitens the teeth, preserves the enamel, sweetens the breath. Moist and Extra Moist in Porcelain Pots,1/- & 1/6 each; or in Decorated Tubes, 6d. & 1/-. Below this on the same page is a box described as the most fashionable gift for ladies. One of the items in there is a bijou pot of the celebrated cherry tooth paste (yes, the sample size Queen's Head!) With the new factory on Blackfriars Road, London in 1909 pictured on the rear, this looks to be from around that period, maybe the early 1910s. A superb piece! Grade: N/A Estimate: $50 - 75
