Moore / (Rampant Lion) / Newcastle. No base mark. (New South Wales) Aerated Water Codd Four way pour Dobson style codd with four dimples. Spun finished top. Amethyst. 13 oz. 242 mm. 1910s
Fair. Polished. Chip to inner lip. Pitted marks to inner neck and chamber. Chip to the left neck across from the neck groove. Large chip to body at right rear lower down. Smaller chip near rear base and another near front base. The base edge and heel are very uneven, there are remains of some chips which look to have been sizeable. These have been roughly ground over and partly out in some cases leaving a very wavy effect. It has been highly polished afterwards and so the entire surface is very shiny. Remains of some pit marks and a few scratches, but the heavy polish has removed most of these. Embossing is still reasonably strong, the lion is a tad rounded. Some nicks and marks to this embossing to be found. Quite rare in this deep sun coloured amethyst colour, even with the issues this remains a nice looking bottle on the shelf. Grade: 4.4 Estimate: $50 - 75
