Carter's / Ginger Beer / Sydney. Smooth base. (New South Wales) Ginger Beer Glass Dump shape. Applied top. Internal Thread. Aqua. 12 oz. 170 mm without stopper. 1890s
Fair. At the front shoulder is a 40 mm crack that then curves over a further 30 mm up to the top of the side lip. At the back shoulder is a crack that runs up to the underside of the applied top and then along underneath the top to meet the first crack (total length about 80 mm). Otherwise a bit of dullness all over and a small 7 x 6 mm bruise at the side base edge. Very rare bottle that displays well. This is different to the bottle listed in David Jones' Thirsty Work (Page 116, Bottle 2). This one is taller and doesn't have the back embossing as listed in Jones' book. Definitely still a worthy shelf example. Grade: 5 Estimate: $100 - 150
