Large Frogmouth Lidded Jar with Pouring Spout. Potters Stamp: Cornwell's / Potteries / Brunswick. (Victoria) Pottery Cornwell's Large Forgmouth Lidded Jar with Pouring Spout. 260 mm without lid. 1900s
Very Good. Flake to inner rim near pouring spout. Grime on inner base. A split to inner base edge from making. Couple of short hairlines to lower inside, these are from inclusions within the pottery from making. Has been painted at some stage with remnants of paint to the handle and a few spots elsewhere. The lower outer part of pouring lip has some wear and scratches. Some minor glaze nicks to the handles. Some glaze scratches and wear to the body in places. Plenty of making marks throughout. Lid is unusual with a handle on either side. It has several flakes to the protruding part that would sit inside the pot. Couple of flakes to inner rim as well and an impact type hairline as well. This also has plenty of making marks. What an unusual piece of early Aussie pottery, from one of the Brunswick potteries in Melbourne's north. Great item! Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $100 - 150
