Carter's / Ginger Beer / Erskineville / Sydney. No potters stamp. (New South Wales) Demijohn Printed Two tone, tan top, off white body. Black Print. Internal Thread. 2 Gallon. 390 mm. 1910s
Excellent. Tiny flake to inner lip and some minor nicks to other parts of lip. Some making lumps to lip, one has a tiny nick to the high point of it. Some glaze misses and scrapes to base edge from making. Fine crazing throughout. One or two tiny scuff marks. A few small scratches. Making marks to be found such as a dint beside the spigot. There is a cork in the spigot which has some grime around it, but no apparent damage to the inner rim. The top of the spigot has one tiny glaze flake. There is a small making split at the top where this joins the body. A superb item, this was on the cover of the Australian Bottle & Collectables Review and was reported as a new find in the 1 gallon size. This was incorrect, it is a new find in the 2 gallon size - nobody has seen a one gallon one yet! Until now, nobody had seen this size either! This would have been made at Fowler's Sydney pottery, the stamp used is the same stamp used on the ginger beers made at Fowler's Pottery. Grade: 8.6 Estimate: $6000 - 8000
