Italian Majolica Drug Jar from the 18th Century: Vitridaty optimi. Medicine Chemist Flow blue type polychrome Delft drug jar. 130 mm. 1700s
Very Good. An historically significant drug jar, this is ancient. I know not what I am talking about here, Delftware? Tin glaze? Whatever the case, it is undoubtedly VERY, Very old, probably 1700s. Tiny impact flake to upper rim has a small hairline each way from it. Two flakes to upper rim. Four smallish glaze flakes to outer rim. There is a larger dip to outer rim that is glazed over with some glaze wear over it too. Looks to be a couple of repaired sections to outer rim, which is odd as you would think if it was repaired that they would have touched up the other glaze chips as well? Nothing major in the way of repairs, but there is certainly two sections of overpainting. Relatively small repair to base edge, a chip has been filled and coloured over. Small glaze flake to base edge. Making fine split under base. Great piece, the black print you can actually feel as well like it is embossed. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $$200.00 - $250.00
